Intro: Kind Organics is located 40 minutes north of Toronto in the Holland Marsh area of Southern Ontario. We grow naturally grown Salad Blends, Certified Organic Sprouts, Certified Organic Wheat Grass, Certified Organic Micro Greens, Naturally Grown Fine Culinary Herbs, Edible Flowers and various kinds of Baby Greens. Kind Organics uses organic farming techniques only, not everything we grow is certified organic but read on to find out how a lot of our practices are beyond the basic requirements of certified organic standards. Kind Organics practices the highest standards of lettuce, greens & sprout production possible on a small scale farm. Kind Organics’ Sprouts and Wheatgrass are certified organic, everything else is 100% naturally grown without the use of chemicals, synthetic fertilizers, manures or animal by-products. Kind Organics was born in 1999 as a Bio-dynamic Demeter certified farm on another farm in King township. We moved to the present property almost two years ago and prior to us taking it over the property had not been farmed or used for hay for close to twenty years. Located within 100 km of Toronto in King Township, close to the Holland Marsh helping you lower your carbon footprint. Our property backs onto 100's of acres of protected forest in the Greenbelt, our neighbours are residential to the north and the one other grower close to us grows bitter melons without the use of chemicals in his greenhouses but has not farmed his outdoor fields for almost ten years. No animal by-products or manures used as fertilizers. We use an “on-site” plant based compost, sea weed, natural alganic nitrogen and diatomaceous earth as fertilizers to ensure a clean highly nutritious product that is free from contaminants. We use only filtered well water (iron filter, sediment filter, carbon filter, and UV light) for both our greenhouse production and our outdoor crops, yes our well water is tested to drinking standards NOT irrigation standards. We buy all of our sprouting seeds as certified organic from Mumms Sprouting Seeds, untreated and organic seeds from William Dam Seeds and untreated and organic seeds from Johnny's Selected Seeds. The farm is located on a small rural property; prior to our move here in 2009 the land had not been farmed for about 20 years. We try to till as little as possible to preserve the rich nutrient & microbial content of the soil. In 2010 we are expanding from the use of 6 2000sq ft greenhouses and 3 acres of land to 9 2000sq ft greenhouses and 4-5 acres.
