Wwoofing
Kind Organics joined the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) community in 2009. WWOOF.ca offers a great opportunity for travelers to stay on a farm in exchange for room and board. Kind Organics has hosted numerous travelers from abroad over the past year. You can visit our profile here: http://wwoof.ca/

Internship
In January of 2010 Kind Organics joined the Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training in Ontario (C.R.A.F.T. Ontario). We are very pleased that we will be hosting 2-3 interns this year under our internship program. To visit C.R.A.F.T.’s web site click here: http://www.craftontario.ca/

We have reposted our 2010 internship ad here:

Two or Three positions available for 2010
Kind Organics is a fast paced Organic farm located about 40 Minutes from Downtown Toronto. We are a small but vibrant vegetable farm using organic farm practices and moving towards biodynamic practices. We specialize in Gourmet Salad blends, Edible Flowers, Sprouts & Micro-Greens, Wheatgrass, Herbs and Baby Leafy Vegetables. We sell at farmer’s markets in Toronto and fine restaurants, as well as some organic retailers. Kind Organics has been at the present location for 6 months and we are still expanding our infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity for interns to participate in a newer farm and have direct experience with putting up greenhouses, building irrigation and learning a system of farming that is both sustainable and profitable. We are looking for hard working, energetic interns who are willing to put in long hours when required. This year Kind Organics will be running, inspirational documentary/movie nights, information sessions, workshops and farm tours for the public. There is also a long term opportunity for the right intern to get involved in teaching/organizing and advertising. Kind Organics is born out of the principle of Intentional Community living and we will be sharing dinner meals most days with rotating cooking duties. We try to eat mostly raw & vegetarian meals but we also eat meat from time to time. We also meet as a group occasionally to work out conflict that might arise and support each other in our emotional well being. We are looking for interns who are open to sharing their truth and participating in our bi-weekly circles. Living arrangements: We have 2 houses on the property and one of them has 2 beautiful rooms for interns (one room is large enough to share). The house is inhabited by one of the farm partners as well. There is an abundant supply of clean, filtered water and a communal kitchen, bathroom and living/entertainment room. There is access to laundry one a week. Travel Arrangements: We are located a 4 minute drive from a GO BUS stop at 400 and Hwy 9 and someone can pick you up from there. We prefer interns with a valid driver’s license as we rent some green house space on another property as well.

We will be starting March 15th and running through November 30th. We may continue into December this year with possibilities of going year round.
